About Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is located in the center of the Eurasian continent which gives a significant geopolitical role as transit between Europe and Asia, Russia and China.

Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country and the ninth largest country in the world with a territory of 2,727,300 square kilometers. It has borders with (clockwise from the north) Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian Sea. The terrain of Kazakhstan includes flatlands, steppe, taiga, rock canyons, hills, deltas, snow-capped mountains, and deserts.

Kazakhstan offers Asian countries uncontested terrestrial transportation connections with Russia and Europe.

The “New Silk Way” project, promoted by the Republic of Kazakhstan, will facilitate the integration of European and Asian countries with Kazakhstan playing an important role not only in the development of the transportation and logistics infrastructure, but also in the creation of business opportunities in the context of an effective trade and exchange through the " New Silk Way".

With the “New Silk Way” project, Kazakhstan is reviving its historic role to become a major business hub in the cargo transit between Europe and Asia. International hubs will be developed in key transport corridors of Kazakhstan and this should double the volume of transit traffic through Kazakhstan with an initial target set at 50 million tons by 2020.

3 billion people are currently living in the “New Silk Way” area making this a regional market with significant potential in logistics and transport.
